My name is Michael Filipowski - born in Poland and raised in Germany - I am a self-taught professional 3D artist spending my childhood drawing on paper, pixelating on my Amiga and later on generating 3D graphics with my PC. After school I received a trainee position in a local game studio called Blue Byte (aquired by Ubisoft) and became a full-time employee afterwards. At Blue Byte I got the opportunity to learn a lot from professional artists to shape my skills further and further and developed a strong interest in creating characters. After spending over 10 years at Blue Byte I am moving into the world of freelancing looking for new opportunities and challenging projects.
I love being creative, developing concepts and creating stylized graphics and also have a strong passion for game design (mechanics). My interest in game design helps me finding visual solutions throughout the game development combining function and visual appeal. Game graphics can be more than pure eye candy - supporting gameplay and providing feedback to the player is an achievement i'm striving for.
Besides my focus on creating character designs and visual assets for high profile productions I'm eager to help out smaller studios/indies by providing support for different tasks alongside the development process like style definition, reference asset creation and workflow setup.
Summing it up, I view myself not only as an artist but as a game developer and I am looking forward hearing from you!
